Forest Row Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a natural, drug-free manual therapy which is based on the teachings and philosophy of Dr Andrew Taylor Still. He devised a system in the 1800's of manipulation techniques known as Osteopathy (Osteo means bone and pathos means disease) to rebalance the body, improve joint mobility and allow the proper function of the internal organs.

Osteopaths are known as "back specialists" but they actually treat from head to toe, and tend to concentrate on restoring proper function to the body rather than just treating symptoms.
Osteopaths work on the neuromusculoskeletal system primarily via treating muscles and joints. Treatment is patient centred and is different for every patient.
Osteopathic medicine is dedicated to treating the patient as a whole rather than focussing on one system or body part. Osteopathy is suitable for almost anyone and can contribute to the treatment and management of a wide range of conditions. On occasion when osteopathic treatment would not be appropriate we would let you know and refer you back to your GP.
All osteopaths in the UK are regulated and registered by the General Osteopathic Council. It is against the law for anyone to call themselves an osteopath unless registered with the General Osteopathic Council which sets the standards of competence, conduct and safety.
